The University celebrates Sports Day with various virtual activities
In conjunction with the Kingdom of Bahrainโs celebrations of its Sports Day, the University organized, by the Student Council and its sports club and under the supervision of the Sports Committee and the Deanship of Student Affairs, various virtual sports activities under the patronage of the University President Prof. Ghassan Aouad, and with the participation of a large number of academic and administrative staff members, students and graduates, where the universityโs sports day included a slew of sports activities that were held through virtual communication technology to preserve the safety and health of University employees and students, such as the running competition, the cycling competition, the sports questions competition, the FIFA championship, and the awareness session on sport and its importance in life presented by the student Fatima Riad.
These events come to stress the importance of sport for all and make it a way of life, in order to activate sporting values โโthat aim to promote public health in societies, as the Sports Day witnessed the participation of the attendees in many different games and competitions.
The University is keen to hold the activities of Bahrain Sports Day annually since its inception at the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, National Security Adviser and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, as the University participated this year with a group of different and varied activities that reflect the extent of the support provided by the University leadership to support these sporting events.
For his part, the University president, Prof. Ghassan Aouad, stated that the University is keen to interact and participate in this national sporting event every year by preparing various sports programs for its employees in a way that contributes to educating society about the importance of practicing sports.
The University President also expressed his sincere thanks to His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Vice President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the Bahrain Olympic Committee for his directives to celebrate the fifth edition of the National Sports Day, his support of sports in the Kingdom of Bahrain and his keenness to develop the sports system in the Kingdom in line with the development and progress that the country is witnessing in various fields under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, may God protect him.
For his part, the Director of the Administration and Finance, Chairman of the Sports Committee, Mr. Abdullah Alkhaja, thanked the University administration for facilitating the success of the Sports Day activities, valuing with all appreciation and pride the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Vice President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the Bahrain Olympic Committee to hold the fifth edition of the National Sports Day virtually, in order to preserve the health and safety of society in light of the exceptional circumstances imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
