Memorandum of Understanding to enhance joint cooperation between the University and the Shura Council
The University, represented by Prof. Ghassan Fouad Aouad, President of the University, and the General Secretariat of the Shura Council represented by His Excellency Councilor Osama Ahmed Al-Asfour, Secretary General of the Council, signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at organizing and holding training programs and workshops for the members of the General Secretariat of the Shura Council, in addition to providing advisory services and achieving mutual scientific and academic cooperation between the two parties.
Regarding this cooperation, Prof. Ghassan Aouad stated that the University was keen to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Shura Council to provide it with academic and research expertise and to hold training and educational workshops for its members, but also so that the University can profit from the knowledge resource centers at the Shura Council and the legal, social, political and economic research and studies carried out by the staff of the General Secretariat of the Shura Council, and their specialized scientific sessions and workshops.
The President indicated that the University gives a lot of importance to community engagement and partnerships, by providing distinguished services that contribute to achieving an added value for the Bahraini community, noting that this memorandum aims to develop a practical framework for cooperation between the two parties in a way that benefits the University students through helping them learn more about the working mechanism of the Shura Council and attending the sessions and training workshops that it holds, especially that the University offers two bachelor programs in law and political science, which will help students better engage with the labor market.
Prof. Ghassan Aouad further explained that the University, according to this memorandum, will be committed to organizing and holding training programs and workshops and providing advisory services needed by the employees of the General Secretariat of the Shura Council and the University students, which will contribute to supporting the various fields of work between the two parties, and will help deepen and further develop the knowledge and capabilities of both our students and the staff of the General Secretariat of the Shura Council, by providing training courses and workshops that meet their training needs and enhance their professional careers.
For his part, the Secretary General of the Shura Council affirmed that the Councilโs interest in strengthening cooperation and joint work with higher education institutions in the Kingdom of Bahrain is a translation of the directives that come from His Excellency Mr. Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, to develop plans and programs in all areas of training, consultations and capacity-building among the employees of the General Secretariat, in order to provide the highest levels of support and assistance to the members of the Council in carrying out their duties, and to contribute in general to the sustainable human development in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
His Excellency Councilor Osama Ahmed Al-Asfour stated that the General Secretariat of the Shura Council pays special attention to providing training, education and continuous development for its members considering that its link to the institutional performance of the Council, and its positive reflection on the desired practical outcomes, based on scientific foundations and theories, praising the level of expertise and competencies of the academic and administrative staff at Applied Science University and the its significant contributions to the education process and the labor market enrichment with qualified graduates.
The signing of the memorandum from the university was attended by Dr. Mohammad Yousef, Vice President for Administration, Finance and Community Engagement, Mrs. Ruqaya Mohsen, Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Mr. Abdullah Alkhaja, Director of Administration and Finance, and Dr. Mohammad Alhamami, Director of the Community Engagement Office.
