The President of CIOB Commends the Level of Engineering Students She affirmed that students’ projects touch reality and offer innovative engineering solutions, indicating their high skills and the quality of the University’s educational outputs.
ASU team โRebuildโ were honored for their outstanding achievement of securing the 2nd Place in the CIOBโs Global Student Challenge 2024 after competing against the top five qualifiers from Indonesia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and China.
During the president of Chartered Institute of Building CIOB Professor Sandy Jones’s visit, to the Kingdom of Bahrain, the University organized Engineering Day events in collaboration with the CIOB, considered one of the most important and professional institutions in construction management and leadership worldwide, with a history of over 185 years, headquartered in the United Kingdom, with over 40,000 members worldwide.
During the ceremony, Professor Sandy Jones presented the University’s accreditation certificate in civil engineering and architecture to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Professor Waheeb AlKhaja, and the University president, Professor Hatem Masri, representing a new achievement added to the University’s series of accomplishments at local, Arab, and global levels.
The ceremony included various programmes, including an exhibition of engineering projects by students of the College of Engineering for the academic year 2023/2024. Students showcased their projects and experiences to visitors, explaining project details, objectives, execution mechanisms, and answering questions. Visitors expressed admiration for the students’ outstanding educational level and projects, their ability to communicate, convey ideas, and explain their projects to the audience.
The ceremony also honored talented architectural engineering students Batool Khalaf, Wala Redha and Fatema Dhaif, winners of the 2nd Place in the CIOBโs Global Student Challenge 2024. They presented an exceptional project supervised by Dr. Wael Abdelhameed and Mrs Safa Jamal, succeeding after competing against the top five qualifiers from Indonesia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and China.
Additionally, civil engineering alumni Reema Kamshki was honored for winning third-place award in the prestigious ‘Khalid bin Hamad Award for Graduation Projects. Also, students participating in the exhibition, whose projects received outstanding evaluations from the college, were honored.
The University’s accreditation by the world’s largest construction institute presents a significant opportunity to enhance the quality of education and training provided by the University to students in civil and architectural engineering fields. It reinforces the confidence that graduates of these programs enjoy among employers, thereby increasing their opportunities for prestigious and distinguished jobs after graduation. This accreditation represents international recognition of the quality of educational outputs of the College of Engineering, indicating the excellence of educational processes and services provided to students. The College of Engineering is committed to keeping pace with the latest global technologies in engineering fields, comprehensively and accurately applying them to its academic programs by considering various aspects such as curriculum quality, availability of educational resources, teaching, learning, research, innovation, student services, academic and career guidance.
The meeting was an opportunity for the President of CIOB and other participants to familiarize themselves with the University buildings and laboratories recently developed to provide more opportunities for students to link theoretical education with practical application, providing a modern and advanced educational environment comparable to leading universities worldwide.
