Applied Science University continues its impressive performance in the Arab and International rankings by being ranked as the best Bahraini university and among the Top 20 Arab universities for 2024.
Applied Science University (ASU) continued its outstanding performance the QS Arab Region University Rankings 2024 as it was ranked among the Top 20 of Arab universities, making it the highest-ranking university in Bahrain for the second year in a row.
The QS organization announced the results of its 2024 rankings for the Arab region in a festive event held in Bahrain with the attendance of H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Higher Education Council (HEC), H.E. Dr. Diana Abdulkareem Al Jahrami, Secretary-General of the HEC, H.E. Mr. Sameer Abdulla Nass, Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Board of Directors of ASU, representatives of the General Secretariat of the HEC, in addition to Mr. Nunzio Quacquarelli, Founder and Director of the QS Organization along with a large number of university presidents and representatives from across the region.
The QS rankings is considered one of the most distinguished international university rankings, and it is indeed one of the three most important ones around the world. It is worth noting that it is issued by the Quacquarelli Symonds organization, which is one of the three largest entities that issue world university rankings, in terms of impact and recognition. The QS ranking for the Arab region showed the consistent growth of ASU over the past 6 years: from 45th in 2019, to 37th in 2020, to 29th in 2021, to 22nd in 2022, to 19th in 2023 and finally 20th for 2024.
This is not the only QS rankings where ASU has ranked very well. Indeed, ASU has been ranked among the top 600 universities in the world for the year 2023. It is also the only Bahraini university with a 5-star rating in the QS Stars University Ratings system. In the QS World University Rankings by Subject, ASU was ranked 101-150 for โArts and Designโ for the second year in a row (2022 and 2023), and 351-400 in โBusiness and Management studiesโ for the year 2023.
On the occasion of this achievement, ASU Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Professor Waheeb Al Khaja, congratulated the President of ASU, Professor Ammar Kaka, and all the academic and administrative staff members of the University, and stated that ASU had a clear vision and strong determination to become a distinguished university in terms of quality of education, prolific research, and academic excellence, and this resulted in many achievements at the local, regional and international levels, including this outstanding performance in the various QS rankings and ratings, which is one of the most important international university ranking organizations.
Professor Waheeb Al Khaja also thanked H.E. Dr. Muhammad bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Higher Education Council in Bahrain, the Supreme Council for Development of Education and Training, the Higher Education Council, the General Secretariat of the Higher Education Council, and the Education & Training Quality Authority for their tireless efforts in developing higher education in Bahrain and their sustained support for its educational system.
For his part, the President of ASU, Professor Ammar Kaka, said that this achievement comes as a result of all the hard and diligent work of the universityโs staff to reach the ranks of renowned international universities. He extends his thanks to the Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees for their unwavering support and expressed his gratitude to all the academic and administrative staff members at the University who contributed significantly to this achievement and to raise the status of ASU locally, regionally, and internationally.
He also added that this well-deserved distinction for the University is the fruit of its strategies and plans developed to keep up with the rapid changes in the educational and technological landscapes in the world and the evolving needs of the job market, which makes ASU competitive and on par with the best universities in the region and the world.
