Celebrating Stronger Together Event in Conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Mental Health Day
On October 14th as part of the University’s commitment to health awareness and action, it marked a special event in conjunction with both Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Mental Health Day, titled “Stronger Together”, under the patronage of Professor Hatem Masri, the University President. The event was organised by the Counselling Office and Student Service Office, in collaboration with the Health Unit, Woman Club and Student Council 17th Cycle, bringing together healthcare professionals, foundational entities, and clinical centres, who have all collaborated to grow the knowledge of breast cancer and to promote mental health wellbeing.
The event saw the noticeable engagement of students, academic and administrative members who enthusiastically participated in various activities organised throughout the day at the University campus to raise such health awareness, which incorporated awareness session, free medical check-ups and consultations offered by medical healthcare professionals from various hospitals, providing the participants direct access to medical advice and preventive care.
During the day, an awareness lecture titled “The Impact of Positive Thinking and the Components of Happiness on Mental Health” was delivered at Abdulla Nass Hall and aimed to raise awareness about the significance of positive thinking and its effect on personal happiness and long-term mental health. This is in addition to the key medical services offered at the event, where the participants had their chance to learn about early symptoms, detection methods, treatment options, and the importance of regular screenings.
It is worth emphasizing that hosting such health events is not solely to educate individuals but also to empower them to take charge of their health. Events like this can effectively serve as a reminder of the value of early detection and the strength of a community that shares a collective sense of humanity.
