EMPLOYEE INDUCTION FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2019/2020
The University welcomed its new academic and administrative colleagues in an event that started with a very warm welcome by the University President, Professor Ghassan Aouad, in which he the who highlighted the strategic directions along with the role of the new staff.
Professor Aouad described some key facts about the University including its opportunities followed by the vision and mission of the establishment in addition to the strategic priorities as specified in the strategic plan.
He covered the three core pillars of Teaching, Learning, Research, and Community Engagement, the four supportive pillars of Student Support, Internationalization, Quality Assurance, and Sustainable Growth. He pointed out that all staff, students and other stakeholders should be familiar with the University strategy, vision, mission, values, and organizational charts.
An informative been presentation delivered by the Assistant VP for Academic Affairs and Development Dr. Faiza Zitouni illustrating the University teaching and learning strategy emphasizing the importance of course portfolios, staff development and the delivery of quality teaching. Dr. Zitouni also stressed the importance of peer review of teaching and class observations. This was followed by Dr. Hayat Mohamed the Acting Dean of Students Affairs then who presented the deanship role in supporting students and the services they provide within the deanship.
The induction was continued with a presentation by the VP of Admin, Finance and Community Engagement Dr. Mohammed Yousif, The Director of Admin and Finance Mr. Abdulla Al-Khaja who explained about the specific divisions that reports to him including HR, Procurement, Logistics, Finance and Admin. This also included a detailed explanation about HR policies, health and safety, the automated procurement system, the budgeting process, functions within admin and finance.
And finally, the session was concluded by the Community Engagement Office summarizing the key achievements over the past few years followed by the Director of ICT instructing the new members about systems, SIS, web site and the guidance of how to use the staff portal.
