
Launch of the QS Higher Education Report in Bahrain: An Ambitious Vision to Enhance Competitiveness and Position the Kingdom as a Hub for International Students and Academic Expertise
In a landmark event that reflects the Kingdom of Bahrainโs commitment to offering higher education aligned with global changes, the global ranking organisation QS launched its Higher Education Report for Bahrain. The report was unveiled at an event held in partnership between the Ministry of Education, the Higher Education Council, and the university, with the presence of several higher education officials.
The event was attended by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Higher Education Council, Dr. Diana Abdulkarim Al-Jahrami, Secretary-General of the Higher Education Council, Mr. Ashwin Fernandez, Executive Director of QS for the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, alongside Professor Waheeb Al-Khaja, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Professor Hatem Masri, University President, and a number of officials from the Ministry of Education, the General Secretariat of the Council, and university presidents.
This report, prepared by QS in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Higher Education Council, offers strategic insights and recommendations aimed at enhancing Bahrainโs position as a global educational destination. The report highlighted that Bahrain is strategically well-positioned for students and academics due to its open educational system, continuous support for international collaboration, and increasing investments in research and academic infrastructure.
The report also emphasised the notable growth in academic research published in partnership with international institutions, reflecting the Kingdomโs commitment to fostering innovation and developing a competitive educational environment. In this regard, higher education institutions in Bahrain have made significant efforts to create advanced educational environments by establishing specialised research centres in vital fields such as healthcare, cloud computing, and sustainability.
The event further highlighted Bahrainโs strategic vision to strengthen its academic standing on the global stage, with a focus on enhancing the performance of its educational institutions to become a hub for attracting international students and academic expertise from around the world.
