The establishment of the Research Centre for Interdisciplinary and Futuristic Studies is aimed at enhancing the university’s research output and promoting entrepreneurial activities. The center will serve as a hub for scholarly engagement and intellectual innovation, while also facilitating the acquisition of research funding in various multidisciplinary fields. Its primary objective is to foster the development of new research initiatives that transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries by bringing together researchers from diverse fields to explore emerging areas of study. The center will provide consultation, financial support, shared and accessible infrastructure, as well as services to facilitate this interdisciplinary collaboration. Furthermore, the Research Centre for Interdisciplinary and Futuristic Studies actively encourages faculty collaboration across different disciplines and promotes inter-institutional partnerships with universities worldwide.

Mission
The Centre aims to promote multidisciplinary research and to strengthen research collaboration among ASU faculties and between ASU and stakeholders as well as partners within the region and beyond. The centre will organize relevant faculty from various colleges in research teams who will conduct research in the specific research areas/priorities. The research areas will address national priorities and issues pertaining to economic development, health, education, biodiversity, climate change, socio ecological systems, gender, etc.
Objectives
- 1. Promote and facilitate collaborative and/or interdisciplinary research and enhancement of research networking capacity and infrastructure.
- 2. Increase and effectively manage the resources and research support for its members and the wider university community.
- 3. Provide education and training in research and related skills, especially for graduate and undergraduate students and thereby enhance the academic programs of their constituent academic units.
- 4. Contribute to the university’s strategic educational and research missions and to support collaborations between research, teaching and learning.
- 5. Transfer and mobilize knowledge gained through research for the benefit of society, via a variety of mechanisms as appropriate.
- 6. Enhance the reputation of its members, the constituent academic units, and the university through the quality of its work.
- 7. Conduct applied research directed at addressing social and scientific challenges in national priority areas;
- 8. Promote multidisciplinary, collaborative research forming partnership;
- 9. Promote and coordinate the implementation of specialized Master/PhD research in national priority areas;
- 10. Build capacity in research through staff/student training on research methods
- 11. Carry out teaching and advisory service for the public.
- 12. Publish papers/books in reputable journals: These include books, review papers, regular reports, multimedia platforms, periodicals, newsletters and translations.
- 13. Organize Conferences and workshops that complement research programs,
- 14. Exchange information with research centers with similar objectives and tasks inside and outside the kingdom.
- 15. Prepare periodic reports on the department's activities and achievements, proposals to improve its work, and develop the relationship between it and other departments of the directorate.
