Minister of Labor inaugurates Career Fair at Applied Science University
His Excellency Mr Jamil bin Mohammed Ali Jameel Humaidan, Minister of Labor, inaugurated the 11th edition of the Career Day event organized by the University in the presence of Professor Waheeb Ahmed Al-Khaja, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr Adel Nass Member of the Board of Directors and Trustees Professor Hatem Masri, President of the University, alongside representatives of the participating entities.
The Career Day saw the participation of 52 companies and institutions operating in the public and private sectors, aiming to introduce university students to the employment opportunities available in the job market for university graduates, in addition to providing guidance and counselling for young people in choosing specializations demanded in the job market.
On this occasion, the Minister of Labor praised this annual event organized by the Applied Science University, emphasizing the role of higher education institutions at all academic levels, scientific specializations, institutes, and training centres in supplying the job market in the Kingdom of Bahrain with qualified graduates equipped with the professional skills required by employers. He highlighted the importance of educational and training institutions keeping pace with job market developments and emerging employment patterns resulting from technological advancements, which necessitates the continuous updating of curricula, enhancing the quality of education, and making it suitable for the current and future needs of the commercial and economic sectors in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, professor Waheeb Al-Khaja, commended the efforts of the Ministry of Labor and its role in implementing numerous programs that assist in employing Bahraini youth, as well as its commitment to supporting initiatives implemented by universities and private sector institutions to help young people integrate into the job market.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees stated that the Career Day exhibition provides numerous employment and training opportunities for the University’s students and graduates, assisting them in integrating into the job market by providing them with the opportunity to meet companies and learn about job vacancies that match their specializations.
In turn, the University President, Professor Hatem Masri, affirmed that organizing the Career Day enhances communication between students and employers by familiarizing them with current and future market trends. He noted that the University is committed to supplying the job market with outstanding graduates in various fields, equipping its students and alumni with the skills and practical knowledge required by the job market.
The University President explained that Career Day aims to connect the University’s students and graduates with the ever-changing job market and its requirements by introducing them to the professional sectors that match their specializations and providing them with experience in applying for jobs, preparing resumes, and training for job interviews.
His Excellency the Minister of Labor toured the pavilions of the participating institutions at the exhibition, where he listened to explanations about the job opportunities offered by these institutions and the professional skills required for applicants. He commended the University’s efforts in supporting its graduates by guiding and directing them towards the best paths and specializations that qualify them for outstanding job opportunities after graduation.
